Description

Company: Neuralwatt
Location: Remote (Seattle/Denver/Boulder metros only)
Type: Full-time
Salary: $180,000 - $220,000 (depending on experience)

Hey, I'm Scott from Neuralwatt. We're tackling one of the biggest challenges in tech right now: energy is the #1 constraint stopping new datacenters from being built. As AI grows exponentially, we're hitting a literal power wall.

We're a VC-backed early-stage startup building optimization tools that make AI, HPC, and datacenter workloads dramatically more energy-efficient. Basically, we help companies maximize revenue per kilowatt when every watt counts.

We're looking for 2 experienced founding engineers to help build our core technology from the ground up and work directly with our first customers.

What You'll Actually Do

On the technical side: - Architect critical infrastructure for datacenter optimization - Write lots of Rust and Python (we use both heavily) - Measure real-world energy impact of our optimizations - Design cutting-edge AI-led optimization systems - Build products that directly affect customers' bottom lines

On the business side: - Help us win our first customers and shape the product - Present at conferences and meet with partners - Contribute to marketing materials and company direction - Wear multiple hats in a true early-stage startup environment

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Has 5-10+ years of software development experience
  • Thrives in ambiguous situations and drives toward clear outcomes
  • Actually enjoys working directly with customers
  • Communicates clearly and steps up as a leader
  • Understands LLM and AI infrastructure challenges
  • Gets excited about solving hard problems at the intersection of energy and compute

Practical Details

  • We're remote-first but meet regularly in Seattle/Denver areas
  • Competitive salary ($180k-$220k) with meaningful equity
  • We can't offer visa sponsorship at this time
  • You'd be engineer #3 or #4 on the team

Why This Matters

This isn't just another AI infrastructure role. You'd be working on technology that literally determines how much AI progress we can make within our planet's energy constraints. The work you do here will directly enable the next generation of AI applications.

If you're tired of working on incremental features and want to solve foundational problems with a small, focused team, this might be your spot.
