The Role: Cloud Native Developer Intern

We are hiring a Cloud Native Developer Undergrad Intern for the Datacentric Platforms and Architectures Department (DPAD) within the Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD). In this role, you will develop cloud-native applications to solve some of the toughest problems currently facing the space enterprise. You will work alongside a team of expert developers and subject matter experts to support a broad array of space-related projects, leveraging the cloud to provide data engineering and data architecture solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Developing scalable, resilient, cloud-native applications.
  • Leveraging cloud platforms to solve complex data challenges as data volumes grow exponentially.
  • Containerizing applications using Docker and deploying them to platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Developing and utilizing REST APIs.
  • Interfacing with project leaders and customers to convey your key contributions.
  • Working closely with National Security Space, United States Space Force, and other Department of Defense customers.

What You Need to be Successful (Minimum Requirements):
- Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited program pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. - Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term. - Intermediate programming ability in Python and/or Java. - Experience with Docker, REST APIs, and Git for source control. - This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required. How You Can Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications): - Experience developing microservices with FastAPI, Flask, or Spring Boot. - Hands-on experience deploying applications to Kubernetes and creating Helm charts. - Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. - Experience with CI/CD, DevSecOps concepts, or various database types (relational, non-relational, etc.). - Programming ability in C, C++, Rust, or Go.

Paid Time Off

  • Vacation --- 15 paid days per year; 20 days per year after five years of service
